hobby #200
Kendama
The Japanese wooden skill toy: a ken (handle with a spike and three cups) tethered by string to a tama (a drilled ball). Progressing from the basic ōzara catch through moshikame rhythm to spike-landing tricks (tomeken) and lunar/balance stalls, all governed by knee-bend timing, string slack management, and controlling the tama's residual spin.
Stop Aiming, Bend Your Knees, and the Ball Lands
KendamaWent in for carbon kite standoffs, left with a wooden ball on a string and no standoffs. Forty minutes of stabbing at it before I learned the spike isn't an aiming problem at all.
