hobby #230
Unicycling
Learning to ride a single-wheeled cycle — mounting, balancing, and pedalling a machine with no freewheel, no handlebars, and no second wheel to bail you out. A pure exercise in dynamic balance: the rider is an inverted pendulum steering by micro-corrections, staying upright only by constantly falling forward and catching it. Starts with clinging to a fence rail and ends, eventually, with a free mount in open air.
Every Time I Braced, the Wheel Ran Away
UnicyclingZero metres at the juggling club, zero metres in my own driveway — except now I owned the wheel that kept firing me into the recycling bin. Turns out pressing down to brace is exactly how you fall.
